Once the movie starring Borat came out and hit like a ton of bricks, there are many people that appeared in the movie-crying foul. The movie Borat was in basically had him traveling from Kazakhstan to the United States to film a documentary and on the way he interviewed people he met along the way. The movie is unscripted and the people that he interviewed were real people not actors.
Now there are many people who have appeared in the movie who are saying they were humiliated and portrayed as idiots and in many cases their reputation were at stake. For example, a TV producer from Mississippi was fired because she booked Borat on a local afternoon show and he acted in true Borat fashion and wreaked havoc on her show. Her boss second-guessed her job abilities to choose proper guests and she was fired.
Many people in the movie are claiming that they got taken advantage of. Even the people of Borat’s hometown of Glod are upset at the producers of the movie because they felt that they misrepresented their movie idea to them and in turn made the city look poor and basically corrupt. There was word that the city may file a lawsuit but so far no word on that.
So, the question that is out there is is Borat funny or just offensive and really obnoxious. Depending who you ask, there are actually people who like that kind of mean spirited humor but the majority of America finds Borat offensive.
