It was just a matter of time before we saw the first of the lawsuits against Borat begin. This did not take too long. The basis for the Borat movie is filmed like a documentary and he filmed people he met, things were not scripted so how you saw things is how they happened. Well, so are two are definitely happening and a third is being threatened
A TV producer in Jackson, Mississippi named Dharma Arthur said she lost her job because of Borat. She had booked him as a guest for a local afternoon show. She booked him without really knowing what type of comedy he did. Well, at the time she was doing another interview on air and Borat was making some rather sexual and suggestive remarks during that interview. Ms. Arthur also says that Borat has kissed the interviewer Brad McMullan and he had interrupted a live weather report.
Ms. Arthur claimed that her boss was so furious at her that he no longer had any confidence in her abilities. So he let her go. She had a contract and was released three months early. She is now indebt and finally found a job. But the real question she has is how could someone could do so much damage to one show be acknowledged as a comedy genius. The events that Ms. Arthur is charging happen can actually be seen in his movie.
Another lawsuit in conjunction of this movie happened with two fraternity members. They also appeared in the Borat movie and their lawsuit in a nutshell is that they felt humiliated and they in turn were ridiculed, their reputations were damaged because before the movie they had good reputation in the neighborhood and they lost a lot or respect.
The last lawsuit is about the town of Glod in Kazakhstan that is named as Borat’s hometown is threatening to sue him because of the way it was portrayed in the movie.
