Can you imagine this an entire country hating one man, Borat. The sad thing is that they have every reason to. Borat tried recently to get onto the White House grounds for a tour and they turned him away after his comments about the Iraqi people and President Bush drinking their blood hit the media, he was turned away.
This happened after it was announced that the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev made it clear that the government of Kazakhstan is very upset with Borat for portraying their country as a “ backwater cesspool of incest, prostitution and corruption.
Ever since the character of Borat came out speaking of his country, the government immediately fired back basically saying they don’t appreciate how their country or the people of their country are being portrayed. But how else can you get attention by creating some type of controversy.
In a way it worked because were maybe 3 out of 10 people who have heard of Kazakhstan and because of Borat there are probably 8 out of 10. Granted the country has gotten the raw end of the publicity deal but there are more people who have heard about it. Some times bad publicity is really good publicity.
