Borat the character has been the cause of many disturbing controversy lately. The biggest accusation against Borat is that he is an anti Semite. Another major no no that Borat has done is he has portrayed Kazakhstan’s citizens in a negative light. The people of that country are very upset at this.
But like any good controversy there are explanations. The anti-Semite charge they say can’t be accurate because Borat’s portrayer Baron Cohen is Jewish. People have become so offended that the Anti Defamation League complained.
Another incident took place in 2005, he was in Lisbon, Portugal and he was attending a press conference where a lot of reports both global and local were. He announced he brought some birds over from Romania as a gift then announced the birds were dead.
But this one act has created such a buzz about the character of Borat, in 2005, Borat attended a rodeo, he brought camera and a crew and managed to convince the law in Salem, Virginia that he was filming a documentary, he announced to the crowd that he had hoped that our military would kill every man, woman and child in Iraq and then he went on to say that he hopes that President Bush drinks the blood of the dead.
Whether Borat is just a character that has some real messed up beliefs and it is all an act or the portrayer really has these feelings. Either way the more Borat is in the public eye the more attention you give him.
